During the visit, students and school staff were introduced to the mission of the Human Rights Defender’s institution, its mandate and scope of powers, key areas of activity and priorities, as well as the procedures for submitting complaints to the Human Rights Defender.
On October 14, at the initiative of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia and in cooperation with the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), an expanded session of the Expert Council on the Protection of the Rights of Servicemen adjunct to the Human Rights Defender was held, dedicated to preventing deaths occurring under non-combat circumstances during military service.
Students of Yerevan Secondary School No. 82 visited the Office of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia.
On October 13, at the instruction of Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan, representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office conducted a follow-up visit to the “Nubarashen” Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia. Private interviews were held with persons deprived of their liberty, including Ashot Badalyan, who has been on a prolonged hunger strike.
