On her own initiative, the Human Rights Defender immediately initiated a procedure for discussion of the matter in connection with the video concerning Mr. Gagik Khachatryan, following the dissemination of the video.
On the instruction of the Human Rights Defender, a visit to the penitentiary institution is currently being carried out in order to hold a private interview with the person and examine the circumstances related to ensuring his rights.
In order to clarify the main circumstances related to the matter, clarifications are being requested from the competent authorities.
Following a comprehensive summary of the results of the visit, the clarifications received and the examination of all relevant circumstances, it will be possible to present the position of the Human Rights Defender’s Office.

During the visit, students and school staff were introduced to the mission of the Human Rights Defender’s institution, its mandate and scope of powers, key areas of activity and priorities, as well as the procedures for submitting complaints to the Human Rights Defender.
On October 14, at the initiative of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia and in cooperation with the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), an expanded session of the Expert Council on the Protection of the Rights of Servicemen adjunct to the Human Rights Defender was held, dedicated to preventing deaths occurring under non-combat circumstances during military service.
Students of Yerevan Secondary School No. 82 visited the Office of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia.
