Today,
on May 19, the Human Rights Defender of Republic of Armenia Ms. Anahit Manasyan
visited the Yerevan Police Department detention facility, where she held a
private interview with Ms. Azgush (Gayane) Martirosyan, the mother of fallen
soldier Zhora Martirosyan.
Ms.
Manasyan was accompanied by representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s
Office, including a doctor.
The
Defender assessed Ms. Martirosyan’s health condition and reviewed her medical
documents.
On
May 17, immediately after the arrest of the parents of fallen soldiers,
representatives of the Human Rights Defender visited the Police department of
Shengavit, where they held private interviews with them. On May 18, they
conducted a follow-up visit to the detention facility, meeting with Ms. Gayane
Martirosyan.
It
was recorded that Ms. Gayane Martirosyan had certain health problems and
refused to eat.
During
the visits, no complaints were recorded regarding the treatment by the
detention facility administration and the conditions.
The
complaints concerning state bodies and high-ranking officials have already been
summarized, and official inquiries have been sent to the relevant authorities
for the necessary clarifications.
