On November 10, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan received the students of the Liberal Politics School.
Welcoming the guests, the Defender emphasized the importance of such meetings in terms of discussing existing challenges in the field of human rights protection, exchanging experience and exploring possible solutions.
“The participation of young people in public processes should not be formal but substantive. It is important that you have the opportunity to make your voices heard and to take part in shaping the public agenda. In this context, I attach particular importance to the ongoing reforms of the educational system, including human rights education. From any perspective of activity, I consider professionalism, integrity, and responsibility to be priorities,” emphasized Ms. Anahit Manasyan.
Young people had the opportunity to ask their questions in a Q&A format and receive answers from the Defender.
Referring to the challenges in the field, Ms. Anahit Manasyan specifically highlighted the dangerous trends of politicization of law, stating that they can deepen public polarization and undermine public trust in the institutions of a state governed by the rule of law.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Human Rights Defender emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with the Liberal Politics School, stating that it is an effective platform for discussing current topics.
