Ms.
Zarine Hovhannisyan, Head of the Lori sub-division of the Human Rights
Defender's Office, participated as a speaker at the workshop titled “Safe and
Secure Educational Environment”.
During
the workshop, Ms. Zarine Hovhannisyan
presented the ad hoc report of the Human Rights Defender, which addresses the
challenges related to the identification, prevention, and response to cases of
violence against children in the Republic of Armenia.
In
her presentation, the representative of the Human Rights Defender’s Office
spoke about the ongoing issues recorded in 2024, which relate to:
▪problems
related to the lack of a strategy and incomplete legislative regulations that
provide comprehensive approaches to identifying, preventing and responding to
violence against children
▪️challenges
related to the level of professional preparedness of specialists involved in
the identification, prevention, and response processes
▪️problems
concerning the enhancement of legal awareness, public education, and the
elimination of stereotypes
▪️issues
related to the absence of accurate and unified statistical data on violence
against children
The
workshop was organized at the initiative of the Spitak Territorial
Pedagogical-Psychological Support Center.
