Ms.
Aksana Ghahramanyan, Head of the Division for the Protection of the Rights of
Persons with Disabilities for the Implementation of Convention Mandates of the
Human Rights Defender's Office, participated as a speaker in the workshop
titled “Inclusion as the Basis of a Safe and Secure Educational Environment”
organized by the Yerevan No. 3 Regional Pedagogical Psychological Support
Center (RPPSC) and the “Inclusion Armenia” NGO.
During
the workshop, the representative of the Human Rights Defender, inter alia,
presented issues related to ensuring accessibility and the provision of
reasonable accommodation in educational institutions in the context of
inclusion, ensuring the quality and effectiveness of education, preventing the
segregation of children with disabilities, as well as the prevention,
detection, and response to cases of violence against children.
The
Human Rights Defender will continue efforts aimed at addressing the existing
challenges in the field, in cooperation with relevant state bodies and
representatives of non-governmental organizations.
