The
Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan,
participated in the 117th plenary session of the Council of Europe’s Committee
for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment
(CPT) in Strasbourg from June 30 to July 4, as a member of the Committee
representing Armenia.
During
the session, the program of periodic visits for 2026 was approved, and reports
on visits conducted in 2024 and 2025 to several countries — including Georgia,
Greece, Austria, Hungary, Cyprus, and Turkey — were adopted.
It
should be recalled that on November 29, the Committee of Ministers of the
Council of Europe elected Ms. Anahit Manasyan, the Human Rights Defender of the
Republic of Armenia, as the Armenian member of the European Committee for the
Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT).
Ms. Manasyan’s term runs until December 19, 2027.
