Based on the information submitted to the Human Rights Defender’s Office regarding the search conducted at the apartment of deputy of the National Assembly Mr. Gegham Manukyan and the seizure of his mobile phone, an analysis has been initiated by the instruction of the Human Rights Defender
Later, the Human Rights Defender’s hotline received information from lawyers that a group of people, including the deputy’s son, Mr. Taron Manukyan, had been arrested and transferred to the Investigative Department of Yerevan, and that lawyers were not allowed to enter the investigative body and meet with their arrested clients.
Taking into considerstion the abovementioned, a rapid response group has been dispatched to the Investigation Department by the instruction of the Human Rights Defender.
This case is under the direct attention of the Human Rights Defender. The staff will issue an additional statement as necessary.
