Panel
Discussion 2. The panel discussions held within the framework of the high-level
international conference entitled “Ethical Standards in Ensuring Equality and
Preventing Discrimination”, organized on the occasion of International Human
Rights Day, are ongoing.
The
second panel discussion, entitled “Human rights education as an important
guarantee for strengthening ethical standards and overcoming discrimination,
stereotypes and intolerance” featured the participation of Ms. Lilit Stepanyan,
Member of Parliament and member of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social
Affairs of the National Assembly, Dr. Beate Rudolf, Director of the German
Institute for Human Rights (online), Mr. Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Rector of
Yerevan State University, Mr. Yeghishe Kirakosyan, Co-Founder and Director of
the International Courts and Arbitration LL.M. Program at Yerevan State
University and Ms. Anne Marie Thake, Associate Professor of the University of
Malta.
The
panel was chaired by Ms. Zhanna Hakobyan, Director of the Centre for Research,
Expertise, and Education of the Human Rights Defender’s Office.
The
conference was organized by the Human Rights Defender’s Office within the
framework of the European Union funded “ATHENA: Advancing the Human Rights
Agenda and Enhancing National Authorities” project, implemented in partnership
with the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Children’s
Fund, and the United Nations Population Fund.
