On
December 26, the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan participated in a
charity exhibition-sale of creative works of persons deprived of liberty and a
concert event at the “Nubarashen” Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of
Justice.
The
Human Rights Defender visited the exhibition tables, got acquainted with the
handmade works of the persons deprived of liberty, and made purchases. All
proceeds from the exhibition-sale will be donated to the “Zatik” Children’s
Support Center.
The
event was attended by Minister of Justice Ms. Srbuhi Galyan, Head of the
Penitentiary Service Ms. Tsovinar Tadevosyan, Member of Parliament and Acting
Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs
of the National Assembly, Mr. Rustam Bakoyan, representatives of the Ministry
of Justice, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the
Penitentiary Service, the Human Rights Defender's Office, as well as other
guests.
The
concert program, organized in collaboration with the Alexander Spendiaryan
National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, featured performances by the
theatre’s leading soloists.
At
the end of the event, Ms. Anahit Manasyan delivered a speech, congratulating
the attendees on the upcoming holidays. The Defender wished that the coming
year would bring new hopes and strength to build a world in which everyone
feels valued and human rights are respected and protected.
The
Human Rights Defender, Ms. Anahit Manasyan, emphasizes the importance of
providing persons deprived of liberty with opportunities for employment, the
development and expression of their creative potential as a key component of
their resocialization, self-realization, and maintenance of connection with
society.
