On 16
February, within the framework of a working visit to Kotayk Province, the Human
Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan, met in Hrazdan
with representatives of NGOs operating in the province, young people interested
in the field of law, as well as teachers and administrative staff of general
education institutions.
The
meeting was organized jointly with Member of the National Assembly Ms. Lilit
Stepanyan and held at the office of the “Armenian Fist” NGO, with the
participation of representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office.
Welcoming
the participants, the Defender emphasized the importance of meetings in such a
format, noting that open and constructive dialogue with civil society
representatives is a key component of the effectiveness of the human rights
protection system. In this context, Ms. Anahit Manasyan emphasized the
importance of developing cooperation with civil society, the need to make the
voice of citizens heard in the decision-making process, as well as mapping the
issues raised and developing effective response mechanisms based on them. The Defender reaffirmed that cooperation with
civil society provides an opportunity to form a more complete situation of the
real state of human rights, highlight urgent problems and jointly develop
systemic solutions.
During
the meeting, participants raised a number of human rights-related issues,
including the rights of persons with disabilities, and presented their
concerns. The agenda of the discussion covered issues related to social and
educational matters, as well as the rights of women, children, youth and
forcibly displaced persons.
The
practical difficulties arising during the implementation of legislative
regulations on currency circulation were also referred. Representatives of
civil society organizations presented presented the programs implemented in the
field, the problems recorded, the existing needs and possible directions of
cooperation.
Summing
up the meeting, Ms. Anahit Manasyan expressed her gratitude to the participants
for their active engagement and constructive discussion, emphasizing that such
meetings serve as an important platform for listening to problems on the ground
and providing an effective responses.
At
the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to expand cooperation and to
advance the resolution of the issues raised through joint efforts and
continuous dialogue.
The
Human Rights Defender’s Office will continue its consistent work aimed at the
protection of citizens’ rights and the overcoming of systemic challenges.
