On
February 19, the Lori sub-division of the Human Rights Defender's Office hosted
students of Stepan Shahumyan Basic School No. 6 in Vanadzor.
The
purpose of the visit, within the framework of the “Social Studies” subject, was
to get acquainted with the activities of the Human Rights Defender’s
Office.
Ms.
Zarine Hovhannisyan, Head of the Lori sub-division of the Human Rights
Defender's Office, presented to the students the history of the Office, the
Defender's functions, and the procedure for applying to the Defender. A number
of issues related to the students’ rights were also discussed.
Meetings
with students from educational institutions and representatives of
non-governmental organizations at the Human Rights Defender’s Office, including
in the regional sub-division, are ongoing.
